Crafting a Jewish Life V: Jews & Food

  • Ner Shalom Zoom Sanctuary United States (map)

Jews & Food

In this session of “Crafting a Jewish Life,” Rabbi Irwin Keller and Gesher Calmenson lead us through an exploration of Jewish eating:

  • What laws and traditions have informed how we eat?

  • How does food create Jewish identity?

  • How does food reveal Jewish diversity?

  • What is the role of fasting?

  • How can eating be a gateway into mindful Jewish practice?

  • What range of values inform what we choose to eat, individually or collectively?

This workshop is also the opening session of a congregation-wide conversation about our collective eating practices at Ner Shalom. If you would like to be part of that values-based decision making, be sure to attend this session!
