Jews & Food
In this session of “Crafting a Jewish Life,” Rabbi Irwin Keller and Gesher Calmenson lead us through an exploration of Jewish eating:
What laws and traditions have informed how we eat?
How does food create Jewish identity?
How does food reveal Jewish diversity?
What is the role of fasting?
How can eating be a gateway into mindful Jewish practice?
What range of values inform what we choose to eat, individually or collectively?
This workshop is also the opening session of a congregation-wide conversation about our collective eating practices at Ner Shalom. If you would like to be part of that values-based decision making, be sure to attend this session!
