Report from Minneapolis from Rinat Abastado

  • Ner Shalom Zoom Sanctuary 85 La Plaza Cotati, CA, 94931 United States (map)

Report from the front lines! Ner Shalomer and student rabbi Rinat Abastado recently traveled to Minneapolis to participate in the clergy's actions against the harsh and unconstitutional tactics of ICE. Join us to hear Bev Voloshin interview Rinat about the ICE raids in Minneapolis; the nature and significance of the unprecedented demonstrations and other forms of community organizing; and the particular role of the clergy.

Registration is free, and we encourage participants to contribute to North Bay Organizing Project’s Rapid Response Network. The Rapid Response Network responds to the urgent needs of our community with a culturally responsive, intersectional approach to building community power.

Rinat Abastado (they/them) is a longtime Ner Shalomer and rabbinical student. They serve on the leadership team of Rabbis for Ceasefire and is a member JVP’s Rabbinic Council, and lead services for Ner Shalom, the Egalitarian Sephardi Mizrahi Kehilla of NYC, and JSWANA Bay Area.

Bev Voloshin is a professor emerita of English at San Francisco State and a former Fulbright Scholar at Al-Quds University in the occupied Palestinian territory. She has been involved in protesting authoritarianism and corruption for over a decade.
