Participants will break into dyads, experiencing both roles: the listener and the one being listened to. You’ll notice how listening can deepen relationships, foster emotional healing, and create safer, more connected communities.

Ilene English is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with decades of experience helping people feel seen, heard, and empowered. She guides her clients towards reclaiming emotional expression—not just for personal healing, but as an act of resistance against shame and oppression.
A seasoned group facilitator and parent educator, Ilene brings a relational, systemic, and justice-minded approach to her workshops and programs. Formerly a leader in Reevaluation Counseling, she is currently writing about aging, ageism, and the power of claiming voice and dignity in later life. Ilene is author of the memoir, Hippie Chick, Coming of Age in the 60’s.
