Join us for this Beit Midrash Offering led by Rabbi Irwin
In his Yom Kippur sermon, “Stuck in the Covenant,” Rabbi Irwin explored the idea of “covenant” as a model of local community and of global Jewish peoplehood. The idea of “covenant” is an old one, but deserves fresh exploration in our modern time, especially examining what covenant means in times of conflict, and what covenant can represent as a form of resilience.
In this workshop, we will read and discuss Rabbi Deborah Waxman’s article, “Covenantal Community and Classical Reconstructionism,” and explore the issues it raises, including what it means for our own sense of peoplehood. Download and preview the article here.
