Interfaith Fast in Support of the Migrant Community

  • Ner Shalom 85 La Plaza Cotati, CA, 94931 United States (map)

In witness of and solidarity with the migrant community of Sonoma County.

Ner Shalom joins religious leaders and people of faith and goodwill throughout Sonoma County in calling for a day of public fasting in solidarity with the migrant communities in the county and across the United States.

The fast will be held from 7am to 7pm on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, concluding with these events at Old Courthouse Square (3rd St./Santa Rosa Ave) in Santa Rosa:

5pm Gathering and reflection time at Old Courthouse Square

5:30 Silent meditation and witness

6:30 Closing ceremony

7:00 Fast-breaking

(Participants should bring a folding chair and a brown-bag dinner or snack, and perhaps something to share. Note that the Wednesday market is not taking place that night.)

Interfaith Public Fast stands in solidarity with all migrant communities, including LGBTQAI+ migrants and other additionally vulnerable people. Especially in this time of increasing harassment by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which threatens individuals’ rights and the destabilizing of our wider community, we invite people of faith and people of conscience to join us in this act of fasting and non-violence.
