Join us as to celebrate Shabbat and to rejoice with Ner Shalomer Sharon Ziff, as she is called to Torah for her Re-Mitzvah.
Sharon says, “Soon, I will be seventy five years old. I am at the time in my life when I am drawn to delve deeper into the faith of my ancestral roots.
Last year, after attending an adult Bat Mitzvah, I was talking with Reb Irwin, and I told him how much I enjoyed the Bat Mitzvah service.
He said, ‘You could have a Bat Mitzvah, too.’
I responded, ‘I've already had a Bat Mitzvah.’
And he said, "You can have another one.’
Why a Re-Mitzvah? Because I already had a Bat Mitzvah, and as Reb Irwin informed me, I was engaging in deep work and the term Re-Mitzvah has been coined by Reconstructing Judaism for a repeat B. Mitzvah.”
