We have a big weekend coming up at Ner Shalom, including our annual congregational meeting and a visit by Guest Rabbi Bonnie Sharfman. Please read the details below. We look forward to seeing you!
Kabbalat Shabbat - Friday, June 20, 7:30
Our guest for the weekend, Rabbi Bonnie Sharfman, will lead Kabbalat Shabbat services at Ner Shalom Friday at 7:30. Rabbi Sharfman will give a teaching on this week's Torah portion, Shlach. Irwin Keller will serve as cantorial sidekick, and an oneg shabbat will follow. All ages are welcome.
Shabbat Afternoon Family Fun - Saturday, June 21, 5:00
Rabbi Sharfman will lead an afternoon for Ner Shalom families and friends. In addition to wide ranging discussions beginning with the topic of shabbat, young people will roll up their sleeves and make their own havdalah sets. This activity will culminate in havdalah at 6:30. This event is at the home of Ariana Elster, contact us for directions.
Havdalah and Rebbe's Tisch - Saturday, June 21, 6:30
The congregation is invited to join Rabbi Sharfman for havdalah, followed by an informal "Rebbe's Tisch", where Rabbi Sharfman will give a short teaching on the topic of love and intimacy in Judaism. We expect and hope that the discussion will take us to unexpected places. This is an ideal opportunity to get to know Rabbi Sharfman better. This event will also take place at the home of Ariana Elster, contact us for directions. A light dinner will be served - food and cash donations are welcome! (Families who come for the family fun are invited to stay -- there is plenty of outdoor play space for kids.)
Congregational Meeting - Sunday, June 22, 10-12:00
We invite the congregation to make every effort to be at this year's congregational meeting at Ner Shalom. This is our chance to come together and consider the state of things, look ahead to the coming year and beyond, elect new officers and board members, and reaffirm the ties that keep us in community with each other.
