Nalani Genser
12-17-05
Hi, my name is Nalani Genser and I am in 7th grade at Sebastopol
Independent Charter School. I am 13 years old and live in Forestville
with my mom Diane, my dad Mitch, my brother Montag and my cat Charlotte.
One of my main interests is gymnastics. I train as a level 6 competitive
gymnast, and I compete in gymnastic competitions all over Northern
California and some state competitions. I practice five days a week
at Santa Rosa Gymnastics Center, where I have gone for 6 years.
I play basketball on my school team and also play the violin (which
I hate but my parents are making me play it until the end of 8th
grade!!)
For my Tikkun Olam project, I volunteered at Sutter VNA &
Hospice in Santa Rosa. I helped out around the office doing things
like filing papers and entering data into the computer, or whatever
needed to be done. I really enjoyed volunteering at Sutter because
everyone was so nice to me and it felt good to be helping the community.
This past October, I traveled to Guatemala for 3 weeks. I did
some volunteer work there, helping the native peoples in small,
rural communities. In the mornings we went to a language school,
where we learned a lot of Spanish, and in the afternoons, we either
explored the countryside, or volunteered our time on various projects.
I am really looking forward to my
Bat Mitzvah in December and hope to see you all there!!!!
