Jewish Family and Children's Services needs Volunteer Coordinator
Under the supervision of the Sonoma County Branch Director, this position provides approximately 20 hours per week developing; implementing and monitor volunteer programs within the Sonoma County community, the position understands the mission, goals and objectives of Jewish Family and Children's Services and works within the limitations of the Agency's resources.
Maintains comprehensive volunteer program, county wide, serving the local Jewish community in
accordance with the JFCS Three Year Strategic Plan, including but not limited to the following programs:
One to One support for isolated seniors
Opportunities to put Jewish values into practice
Programs for different age groups as deemed appropriate
Insures a minimum of 70 unduplicated volunteer participants in the Sonoma County volunteer program.
Recruits, screens and supervises volunteers, matching applicants to volunteer opportunities.
Implements orientation for volunteer programs, in compliance with the Agency Volunteer manual.
Assesses volunteer needs and implements volunteer training and support programs as indicated.
Works with all branch staff to provide volunteers for office mailings and community gatherings as needed
Maintains records of volunteer service activity and transmits statistical data to the Accounting Department on a monthly basis and to the Developmental Department on a monthly basis
Works with the Senior Service Caseworker and other staff to provide volunteers to clients and programs as needed.
Represents Sonoma County at agency-wide Volunteer Coordinators meeting and other meetings as time permits
Maintains on going monthly support group for Friendly Visitors volunteers
Implements volunteer recognition consistent with agency wide recommendations
Works with Branch Director to meet the volunteer needs within Sonoma County
Complies with all JFCS standards for performance.
Job Qualifications:
BA required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
Ability to fully utilize a Pentium PC computer, including proficiency in a Windows based using Microsoft Office
(Word, Excel, Access and Outlook) and print design software re
Knowledge of communication technology such as email and access to the Internet
Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality essential
Knowledge of the local Jewish community preferred
Demonstrated ability to work with people of all ages required
Ability to delegate and work with others preferred
Experience in program development and volunteer coordination preferred
Flexibility and ability to be organized required
Interest in working is a social services environment

Visual ability to read documents and computer monitor
Exposure to low to moderate noise levels characteristic of working in an office environment
Regularly required to talk and hear
