Michael Krasny speaks on Jewish Humor

... Jewish comics have defined American humor. So says Michael Krasny,
best known as host of KQED-FM's award-winning "Forum"
interview show.
Krasny himself an entertainer as well as radio host, scholar
and critic will discuss contemporary Jewish humor on Saturday,
May 13, in a benefit for Sonoma County's Congregation Ner Shalom
and the Jewish Community Free Clinic. The event takes place at the
Well Fargo Center from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Merlo Theater
The evening will showcase a silent auction with a variety of wines,
get-aways and gifts from leading businesses. Performance tickets
are $75.00 per person. Reservations must be made in advance by calling

Krasny has interviewed many of the leading newsmakers and cultural
icons of our time, often matching wits with Nobel Laureates, heads
of state and Pulitzer Prize winners, including Saul Bellow, former
President Jimmy Carter, Cesar Chavez, Noam Chomsky, Francis Crick,
John Kenneth Galbraith, Newt Gingrich, Jane Goodall, V.S. Naipaul,
Rosa Parks, Robert Redford, Salman Rushdie, Carl Sagan, Susan Sontag,
Gloria Steinem and Arcrchbishop Desmond Tutu.
The proceeds from this one-night event will benefit two worthy
causes in Sonoma County:
*The Jewish Community Free Clinic a nonprofit, volunteer-based,
medical clinicproviding no-cost medical services to the uninsured.
*Congregation Ner Shalom Sonoma County's Reconstructionist
synagogue, dedicated to education, acts of social justice and a
tradition of Tikkun Olam -repairing the world.
