2005 tikkun olam award
The Jewish Community Agengy (JCA) of Sonoma County is
honored to announce that Rabbi Michael Robinson will be awarded
the 2005 Tikkun Olam Award for his lifelong service to and
for the community.
The Tikkun Olam award honors Jewish individuals whose lives
are dedicated to making a difference in the world. Rabbi Robinsons
life is a clear example of one who has done just that.
Over the course of his career, Rabbi Robinsons work
has taken him around the world as he has embraced numerous
social and political causes, including the movements of Civil
Rights, Anti-Vietnam, and Anti-Apartheid. His work resulted
in his being the recipient of the Jewish Peace Fellowship
Award through his congregation in Croton-on-Hudson, NY.
Michael has also been a leader in advocating for the homeless,
working in Sonoma County as a 15-year board member of the
Sonoma County Task Force on Homelessness, as well as with
the Family Support Center and Family Connection program. In
his dedication to preserving the environment, Rabbi
Robinson is actively involved with the Sonoma County Conservation
Action, the Living Wage Coalition, and the Sonoma LAND Trust.
Help us honor Rabbi Robinson by joining us for the award
ceremony at the JCA Gala Event on Sunday, May 15, 2005, at
the Friedman Center. For more information call the JCA office
